Grand Golf ClubThe Grand Golf Club’s unique approach to individual instruction is unparalleled in the golf industry. Unlike a typical golf school, instruction is always one-to-one, allowing better teacher-student communication. The Grand Golf Club Instructional Team teaches more than just methods, they take individuals and make them better players. Shawn Cox, Director of Golf – A member of the Professional Golfers Association of America (PGA), Shawn is a Titleist Performance Institute Certified Golf Fitness Instructor. Using a physical screening process to identify and isolate physical limitations, he evaluates swing technique and prescribes customized conditioning for each of his students, including current players on both the PGA and LPGA tours. In 2005, he received Golf Digest’s Best in State Instructor award and became the first person in Southern California to complete the PGA's specialty certification in instruction. Prior to joining The Grand Del Mar, he served as assistant head golf professional at La Jolla Country Club and Torrey Pines Municipal Golf Course, where he founded the Junior Robert Gensler, Head Golf Professional – With 14 years of experience as a golf professional, he worked for the last six years with Troon Golf, the industry leader in high-end golf course management. In addition, he was head golf professional at the Madera Golf Club in 2002 and also worked as an assistant pro at Torrey Pines Municipal Golf Course for five years, where he earned his PGA membership. Wyatt Spencer, Assistant Golf Professional – Spencer was previously golf professional at Barona Creek Golf Club and embarked on a golf career as an attendant at the prestigious U.S. Navy-owned and operated Admiral Baker Golf Course. Erik Wilson, Assistant Golf Professional – Wilson worked for Crosswater Golf Club in Sunriver, Oregon for five years in both golf and fine dining before joining The Grand Golf Club in 2004. A graduate from Oregon State University, he holds a bachelor’s degree in exercise sports science and is currently enrolled in the PGA Apprentice Program to attain full membership in the near future. Private Instruction One-Hour Lesson – Discover all of the nuances of your swing using technologically advanced digital video equipment. You’ll develop a confidence in your swing that translates to an enhanced learning experience. Includes a take-home CD of the lesson. Adults: $175 / $225 with Director of Golf Three-Hour “Train Like the Pros” Session – Revealing precise information on how to improve your game and tailor individual training strategies, this program includes full swing and short game instruction on the practice area, as well as a SAM-Putting Stroke Analysis, used by the top players on the PGA, LPGA and Champions tours. Includes a take-home CD of the lesson and a short game manual. $500 / $600 with Director of Golf Full-Day Program – Begin the day with a valuable on-course evaluation. Then, practice your full swing and short game on the practice area, and receive a SAM-Putting Stroke Analysis, evaluating your technique and movement skills, before finishing back on the golf course in the afternoon to apply your improved techniques. $1,000 / $1,200 with Director of Golf The “On-Course” Experience – Whether you are looking to improve your full swing, chipping, specialty shot skills or more practical aspects of the game such as putting, rules, etiquette and controlling your ball’s flight, there is nothing like on-course instruction and situational practice to test every aspect of your game.
