Students always use our services at no charge. You may search for lessons, book lessons & communicate with your instructors for free. We may ask depending on the request of your instructors that you save payment info with your profile. Some instructors have different policies and wish to have a credit card on file to protect their time/interests.

We at Book A Lesson are devoted to creating a streamlined communication tool for instructors and students to minimize administration time and maximize the instructional experience. Our hopes are to deliver a fee structure that will allow you as an instructor to easily grow your business.

As of April 1, 2007 the fee structure is as follows. **

• Listing your profile is free!
  
• Lesson fees for instructors will be waived until you have used the site for a complete month. (Example: signup April 15th, no fees until June 1st!)
  
• Book a Lesson has no monthly subscription fee. Its free for your account to be listed and includes all the core elements of our account management tools. (You are only billed in months where 1 or more lessons have been booked. Why would you pay out of season???)
  
• We have an initial fee of 2.5% on each lesson/credit booked through the website. Our minimum per-lesson fee is $0.25 USD. These fees are calculated and billed monthly.
• Billing occurs for the months in which lessons/sessions take place. If a lesson is given in July but paid in June, we will bill the lesson in July. If a lesson credit packaged is purchased in June and the lessons are taken in July and August, we will bill in June. This is to ensure we bill you on the values booked. Lessons booked with a credit will not be billed as the value of the credit package was been billed for. We do this to ensure you aren't pre-billed for lessons that may be cancelled/refunded and you only pay for what you use.
• ** by using our services as an instructor you must agree to these terms. Book A Lesson, Inc. will always keep instructors and students informed of our pricing policies and changes to the pricing policy.

Google™ Checkout give you as a student, the power to quickly pay for your lessons on the spot! It is a fast and secure way for you to manage your payments and use a credit card to pay for your lessons. There is no charge for you the student to use Google Checkout.

Book A Lesson is devoted to provide avenues for payment to you as an instructor. Currently Google Checkout is offered at Book A Lesson and can be a great way for you to get up and running and ready to accept payments online. With Google Checkout you will see savings of at least 20% over the leading merchant accounts. For low volume instructors, you could see savings greater than 40%!!!

Integrate with Book A Lesson

Once you have reviewed the Google Checkout product and want to get rolling with accepting payments with Google Checkout on bookalesson.com, follow these simple instructions.

retrieve your merchant-key and merchant-id from the Google Checkout Manager. Browse to the "integration" section and see screensot below for where to find this information.



You also need to past the following into the "API callback URL:" field.

This allows Google Checkout to post responses back to Book A Lesson which will keep you and your students up to date.

login to your account and edit your profile. Edit your Google Checkout profile, make sure the checkbox "Accept Google Checkout?" is checked and your merchand-key and merchant-id matches your information from the Google Checkout Merchant Center.

Merchant accounts can be spendy, difficult to integrate, difficult to manage and costly if your transaction level is lower than normal. Google Checkout has no setup fees, or monthly fees! This means you only pay for the services when you use them. Their fees are very competitive to the offerings of a merchant account.
